Choosing Cigar Humidors

Cigar humidors provide the ideal conditions for cigar storage and aging. Used correctly, humidors will keep cigars fresh while providing long-term preservation in optimal conditions - important considerations for passionate smokers who understand that aged cigars taste far superior. With proper humidity levels maintained inside their humidor, cigars not only retain their original flavors and aromas, but become much more pleasurable to smoke!

Humidors are designed to replicate the tropical conditions under which most cigars are produced and work by drawing moisture out of the air through absorption and release, maintaining ideal levels of humidity for cigar making. Ideally, humidors should be filled with distilled or filtered water so as to avoid minerals that might affect cigar quality; some models use sponges soaked with this form of liquid instead; other models contain foam that holds plenty of water but releases it slowly into cigars while some models include hygrometers and thermostats for optimal humidity control.

One of the primary factors when selecting a humidor is size. They typically fall into four categories according to size: walk-in (large storage rooms), cabinet (smaller versions of cabinets that can fit on tables or desks), desktop and travel (portable models designed for easy transportation).

As part of your search for a cigar humidor, it is also essential that you evaluate its materials and design carefully. Any sign of cracks or warping in its wooden construction indicates poor quality and should be avoided.
