Choosing a Bathroom Window

June 6, 2023

When selecting windows for your bathroom, carefully consider which style best matches the decor while providing plenty of natural lighting. In addition, make sure that they can withstand humidity and moisture - wood may warp easily when exposed to continuous humidity levels.

Textured glass provides privacy by making it difficult for outsiders to see inside. With just a simple DIY project, this feature can easily be added to existing windows for increased privacy.

Transom windows

Transom windows are small window installations that sit above existing doors or windows and are used to bring natural light into rooms like living rooms and bedrooms without increasing window size. Transoms also add some aesthetic value and can be relatively affordable; fixed type transom windows tend to be cheaper; however if you purchase one that features decorative accents or opening mechanisms then their price can increase considerably.

Transom windows are often installed above front door setups to add an air of openness and broaden one's view, but they can also be added anywhere else for greater impact - for instance in bathrooms where they offer natural light while simultaneously offering some ventilation benefits.

Skylights

Many homes feature bathrooms with limited window areas that don't provide enough natural light. Installing a skylight is one way to bring more natural light into the bathroom while simultaneously improving ventilation and airflow.

Increased natural lighting can help bring out the subtle textures in your bathroom surfaces, such as white ceramic tiling. When exposed to natural sunlight, white ceramic tile becomes even more vibrant and striking.

Skylights provide soft light that gently warms a bathroom in wintertime, helping reduce electricity bills while ventilating skylights can reduce moisture build-up, thus lowering risk of mould growth and breathing difficulties. Even bathrooms without windows can benefit from extra light and fresh air provided by skylights; for this purpose tubular types are the best choice since they fit most roofs easily while opening for ventilation purposes.

Shutter-style blinds

Curtains and blinds may succumb to mildew build-up in your bathroom while shutters can withstand both steam and humidity without warping or shrinking, even under extreme showering conditions. Our Polywood faux wood shutters are 100% waterproof - eliminating any worries of shrinkage or warping during even the hottest shower session!

Shutters offer both privacy and light control: Close them during the day for complete privacy by blocking out sunlight; open them up when bathing to create an inviting, bright bathing space with sunlight flooding in through its slats - they can even be tilted easily to filter in daylight as you soak.

Tier on tier shutters are an excellent solution for larger windows, providing privacy while still letting in plenty of natural light through opening the upper portion. They're an ideal option for second floor bathrooms where privacy needs to be preserved but still plenty of sunlight can come through.

Sliding windows

A slider window is an economical and energy-efficient choice that still provides ample light and ventilation, yet is susceptible to freezing in cold weather; upgrading with Low-E coatings or ETI foam may help prevent this issue.

Bay and bow windows can make a great addition to any bathroom, providing more natural light while being easier to open than other window styles.

Accent windows

Bathroom windows offer many benefits, from natural lighting and focal point creation to increased privacy and providing an opportunity for creative design elements that might not fit traditional window treatments.

Curtains make an elegant addition to bathroom windows. Available in an array of colors and styles, curtains can add an eye-catching finish. Here, bright yellow cafe curtains tie back in this feminine primary bath room to complete its sunny atmosphere.

A hopper or awning window adds another stylish detail to any bathroom, offering ventilation as needed following hot showers. Perfect for bathrooms without other ventilation options and offering beautiful architectural detail; choose clear or obscure glass options to complete the look.
