Situated across the bridge from Chicago's Loop and bordering bustling Michigan Avenue, River North has undergone an amazing transformation over time from a sleepy factory district into the center of Chicago's art, design, and entertainment industries. Home to over 100 art galleries and full-amenity luxury rental buildings as well as numerous posh retailers and restaurants, River North continues to attract people with style.
Keegan Moon and Ivan McCullagh, co-founders of DineAmic Hospitality and Gibson's Restaurant Group respectively, have opened No Vacancy at 509 N. Wells St. in River North to bridge the gap between neighborhood watering hole and contemporary cocktail destination.
No Vacancy's sleek interior and impressive beverage program include sharing-friendly bar fare, classic American dishes, and an array of delectable cocktails. When the weather improves, they plan to open a 22-seat sidewalk patio for guests to unwind and watch sports with their friends.
Originally designed by Henry Ives Cobb, this historic building was previously home to the Chicago Historical Society, Institute of Design and multiple nightclubs. Recently it reopened as TAO Chicago with a multi-level restaurant/lounge area and separate adjoining nightclub.
TAO attracts a range of patrons, from young teens seeking an exciting nightclub environment to business clients and corporate groups looking for an all-inclusive event. Its decor - featuring 16-foot Buddha statues - draws hipsters as well as families alike.
