Mill Valley Kitchen in Rochester proves that restaurant dining can thrive without resorting to clarified butter, rich animal proteins and other dietary no-nos. Chef Mike Rakun achieves this impressive feat successfully.

Local Kitchens was launched by former DoorDash colleagues during the pandemic to meet an unprecedented surge in demand. On Friday at The Trailhead (1221 Theodore Wirth Parkway in Minneapolis), its fourth California location will open. Benedict's and Mercy restaurants already operate from this Twin Cities-based operator.

Local & Organic Food

Northern California-inspired eatery pays homage to its locale by featuring local, organic and sustainable ingredients in their dishes like Miso Glazed Seabass and Bison Burger - available year round despite seasonal changes on their menu. Sit-down dining as well as grab and go options are both available at this eatery.

Marin-area complex will operate daily from 11 a.m. to midnight and provide patrons with an opportunity to dine at different restaurants, order mix-and-match entrees online and receive third-party delivery services. Local Kitchens founders - former DoorDash colleagues - came up with this concept during the pandemic; its locations can be found throughout California with more planned soon.

Pescara will vacate its space on Rochester's street level and Northern Hospitality & Co will open their health-oriented restaurant here, the second outpost under their care; these companies already run Benedict's in Rochester and Wayzata and Longtrees Woodfire Grill in Alexandria.

Bar Lounge

Our bar lounge offers an impressive selection of new and old world wines, inventive cocktails and local draft beer in an inviting atmosphere perfect for after work happy hours, family dinners or spontaneous Sunday brunches. Seasonal fare like Miso Glazed Seabass and Gingered Quinoa is always on offer year round; Mike & Abby Rakun have created MVK as a tribute to Mill Valley region of Northern California which is famed for thoughtful food creation that helped to pioneer the Slow Food Movement.

Excellent food and service. I particularly appreciated their gluten-free and vegetarian offerings, although the music could sometimes make conversation difficult at our table. Overall though, we will definitely return! The restaurant is also available for private dining events.

Mike and Abby Rakun share the passion of creating nutritious yet delectable cuisine at home - something which led them to open Mill Valley Kitchen (MVK). Paying homage to Mill Valley and its award-winning cuisine which pioneered both Slow Food movement and sustainable farming, MVK serves locally sourced meals in an intimate fine dining atmosphere.

Interior of Chambers Kitchen was designed by Shea Inc. from Minneapolis. Their firm's signature style can be seen at many of the great drinking-and-dining spots along 9th & Hennepin Avenue - like Lunds & Butcher & the Boar and Lunds & Butcher & the Boar - including Lunds & Butcher & the Boar and Lunds & Butcher & the Boar. Chambers Kitchen now reclaims its lower level for lounge and private dining rooms!

MVK, located on Excelsior Boulevard and France Avenue within the Ellipse building, offers the ideal setting for after-work happy hours, family dinners and last minute Sunday brunches. Their bar lounge features an extensive selection of new world wine as well as inventive craft cocktails; their restaurant and patio provide comfortable yet informal spaces suitable for special events or just relaxation.
