How to Hang Curtains in an Apartment Without Drilling Into the Walls

[last_updated_date]

Many people prefer apartments due to the freedom they provide to decorate according to their own taste. However, this often comes with certain limitations and requirements - one common example being how to hang curtains without damaging the wall.

Thankfully, there are ways to hang curtains without drilling into the walls. Not only will this allow you to enjoy your decor without risk of damage, but it may also help avoid any potential disagreements with your landlord or property manager.

1. Choose Double-Sided Tape

Double-sided adhesive tapes come in many varieties that you can use for hanging curtains indoors. Selecting the type that sticks securely to whatever surface you plan to hang them on and can support the weight of your drapes is your best bet.

Another viable option is Bostik Blu-Tack adhesive. This adhesive is easy to take off and works great on a variety of surfaces; you can apply it in multiple rooms in just minutes!

2. Utilize Coat Hooks

Coat hooks are an efficient way to hang curtains in an apartment. Not only do they work on most surfaces, but they're affordable too - plus, with them you can open and close the curtains freely. Attach them directly onto a door frame, window frame or upper window ledge; however be aware that over time these may shift around so rearranging them for optimal visual impact may be necessary.

3. Utilize Clip-On Brackets

If you don't want to use screws for hanging your curtains, clip-on brackets that attach to the rings of the curtain rings can be a great alternative. They keep your drapes securely attached to the wall while allowing for easy removal when moving out of an apartment. Additionally, these clips make packing lighter a breeze!

4. Use Simple Fit Shades

If your apartment doesn't have a curtain rod, purchase simple fit shades that don't require holes in the wall. These will protect both your walls and ceiling from damage while still offering privacy and light control for your residence.

5. Use Blackout Curtains

Looking to provide privacy and darken your room but don't have the funds for a curtain rod? Consider adding blackout curtains to your apartment instead. They come in various colors, styles, and fabric types so you can find one that perfectly complements your decor.

6. Consider Investing in Extra Long Curtains

Temporary rentals can often benefit from investing in extra long curtains to hang over an existing curtain rod. This allows you to adjust them as needs change and save money over time.
