What You Need to Know About Gaines Disability

Joanna Gaines is an active mother-of-five. Along with husband Chip Gaines, they run Magnolia Network's successful HGTV show as well as their home design business.

Crew has recently become an instant fan favorite. Joanna often posts videos of him playing imaginatively with his stuffed animals on Instagram.

Hydrops Fetalis

Hydrops Fetalis is a serious condition in which abnormal fluid collections are detected on ultrasound in at least two fetal compartments, increasing risks of stillbirth, preterm delivery, serious illness or death for newborn babies post birth.

Non-immune hydrops is the most prevalent form of hydrops, typically caused by disease, genetic disorder or birth defect which interferes with how the body manages fluid. Possible causes may include anemia caused by chronic isoimmunization disorders or homozygous a-thalassemia; cardiac or pulmonary conditions from sources other than anemia (large arteriovenous malformations, premature closure of foramen ovale, lymphangiectasia); renal disorders; tumors (chorioangioma sacrococcygeal teratoma); as well as infection (cytomegalovirus B19, toxoplasmosis or Hepatitis C).

Treatment for this condition depends on its severity and cause, although in certain instances it may be possible to treat your unborn baby during gestation by giving him blood transfusions or installing a shunt. At UCSF we are pioneering exome sequencing to identify single gene variations which might explain why both mother and unborn have this condition.

Spina Bifida

Spina bifida occurs when the spinal cord and bones don't develop correctly, leaving an opening. This condition may affect muscle weakness as well as physical function depending on which parts of the spine have been affected.

Myelomeningocele, which is the most severe form of spina bifida, occurs when part of the spinal cord protrudes through an opening in the back, creating an air pocket containing fluid and part of its sac lining. People suffering from myelomeningocele typically do not feel sensation below where their problem exists and may also have problems with bladder or bowel function.

Spina Bifida can take several less severe forms, including occulta, closed neural tube defects (myeloschisis and lipomeningocele) that cannot be repaired during gestation and genetic factors as well as nutritional deficiencies can all play a part. Babies born with these conditions typically need a shunt to drain fluid away and reduce excess pressure in the head which could result in intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of nonprogressive neurological disorders affecting balance, movement and muscle tone. It's caused by damage to the part of the brain responsible for controlling muscles - most frequently during gestation or immediately post-birth - but may also occur later if an injury or illness strikes a child later on in life.

Symptoms of cerebral palsy vary among its sufferers, but some common ones include floppiness in arms and legs, severe stiffness of limbs, inability to walk, irritability or lack of interaction with others, an unusual head size like microcephaly or macrocephaly and unusual patterns in their speech patterns.

Chip and Joanna Gaines recently posted a video of their son Crew to social media, drawing praise from fans as everyone marvelled over his adorableness - but one particular post stirred debate due to speculation surrounding his disability; therefore it's essential that parents understand what can be done about cerebral palsy in children.

Down Syndrome

Down Syndrome is caused by an error in cell division. Under normal conditions, cells divide to form two copies of each pair of chromosomes. When one copy of 21 exists due to nondisjunction errors, this causes Down syndrome.

Errors such as these lead to increased risks of medical conditions, including heart defects and respiratory illnesses, as well as intellectual disability, distinctive facial features and weak muscle tone in infancy (known as hypotonia). Down syndrome causes intellectual disabilities as well as its own set of distinctive physical traits like intellectual disability, facial features that define its characteristics, intellectual disability and weak muscle tone (hypotonia).

Down syndrome individuals frequently experience mental delays and difficulty learning new information or skills. With proper support and therapy, however, people with Down syndrome can lead happy and fulfilling lives as adults - either living with their families or independently in community-based activities such as group homes, community employment programs or workshops after high school graduation.
