Sycamore Kitchen serves baked goods, quick breakfast or lunch in a natural-wood interior or on an outdoor patio - ideal for quick service on La Brea Avenue! This casual bakery-cafe is run by Quinn and Karen Hatfield (Hatfield's up on Melrose is home to one Michelin star!), who opened this new branch to offer breakfast-lunch service just six months ago at Sycamore Kitchen on La Brea Avenue nearby.
As soon as you enter, your attention is instantly drawn towards the bakery counter, which spans for yards. Filled with chocolate croissants and gluten-free muffins as expected, as well as puckered Breton butter pastry kouign amann, airy apple galettes that crumble when touched, and cinnamon babka so good it even made its way onto an episode of "Seinfeld," you are immediately mesmerized by all this goodness.
Food at La Cucina dell'Amico is equally exquisite: from homemade bread-baked right on site to seasonal salads with local produce and delicious dinner dishes like pork belly hash or ricotta and buckwheat blintzes served from an open kitchen, you can watch chefs create culinary masterpieces right before your very eyes!
Former print shop, this space feels cozy and inviting thanks to exposed brick walls and wooden beams. Designer Alexis Readinger of Preen Inc. included various types of fire cookery in her design including Brazilian-style churrasco grilling as well as open flame cooking of Australian blue prawns or slow-grilling Wagyu beef with charred broccolini. Custom Crafted Cabinetry of Yorketowne provided a custom island topped off with its Glacier finish cabinetry to complement soapstone countertops and black slat backsplash!
