Angelo "Big Ange" Lutz of South Philly served nearly nine years for racketeering charges related to organized crime before turning his life around at Kitchen Consigliere in Collingswood. Now instead of hiding his criminal past behind walls of gold-framed portraits of famous mob figures or gun-shaped wall sconces, he proudly embraces it as the inspiration for his restaurant, bearing its name.
Every detail at his casual eatery evokes his mobster roots - from its mugshot-themed backdrop and wall of classic gangster movies, to his philosophy of turning lemons into lemonade by using his success to give back to his community.
Lutz established The Palandro-Ferry Memorial Foundation from proceeds from his restaurant to provide educational and charitable programs for local youth in honor of his late father who passed away from an Mummers hazing accident. Through these endeavors he gave back to the community that helped him rise above a life of crime into culinary success story.
Lutz has taken his success one step further by teaming up with Catelli Brothers of Camden, one of America's premier veal and lamb companies. Catelli Brothers will now sell Kitchen Consigliere's popular fully cooked pork sausage meatballs throughout stores nationwide - customers love them due to their rich flavors and satisfying texture!
